SERAP has demanded that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas disclose the National Assembly’s monthly running costs. The organization warned of legal action if transparency is not achieved within seven days, highlighting the need for accountability and compliance with Nigeria’s Constitution and international anti-corruption obligations.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to publicly disclose the exact monthly running costs allocated to National Assembly members.

This demand follows recent controversies over senators' salaries, with SERAP emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in line with the Nigerian Constitution and international anti-corruption obligations. SERAP warned that if their request is not met within seven days, they will pursue legal action to compel compliance.

The organization also urged the National Assembly to stop the alleged practice of paying these funds into personal accounts and to return any misused public funds, highlighting the importance of maintaining public trust in democratic institutions.
