Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has officially dissolved his cabinet, explaining the decision was to bring in a fresh set of professionals for the next phase of governance. During a valedictory session held on January 10, 2025, Eno acknowledged that none of the commissioners underperformed. He praised their efforts, noting that their contributions helped the success of the Arise Agenda. Despite this, he emphasized that it was time to close one chapter and begin a new one.

Many of the commissioners had served for nearly a decade, some under the previous administration of former Governor Udom Emmanuel. The governor further stated that the commissioners and advisers were retained in the interim to compensate for their service, as they had not been rewarded when the previous administration ended in May 2023.

A valedictory dinner will be held that evening to honor the outgoing members of the executive council. Governor Eno’s decision to refresh his cabinet marks a significant leadership shift as he prepares for the next phase of his administration.
