Alex Iwobi has released his debut single, "Don’t Shoot," with fellow footballers Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito, aimed at discouraging youth violence in London. The track reflects Iwobi’s desire to offer positive alternatives through sports and music. As he gears up for the new Premier League season with Fulham, Iwobi remains focused on his football career.
Former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has shared the inspiration behind his debut single, "Don't Shoot," which he released with fellow footballers Chuba Akpom and Medy Elito. The track, which emerged during the summer break, aims to address and reduce violence among youths in London. Iwobi revealed that the song’s message is to guide young people away from criminal activities and towards positive pursuits such as sports and music.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Iwobi explained, “Growing up in London, there is a lot of criminal activity, things that you don’t want to see or hear. With our powers, we are trying to say don’t do that, channel it into something else.” He emphasized that the goal of the song is to offer an alternative path for those struggling with violence, encouraging them to focus on constructive activities.
Despite his passion for music, Iwobi clarified that his primary focus remains football. He acknowledged that while he never envisioned himself as a musician, his friends’ encouragement led him to release the track.
As Fulham prepares for the new Premier League season, Iwobi will shift his focus back to football, starting with an away match against Manchester United on August 16.
