Amad Diallo’s late hat-trick rescued Manchester United in a 3-1 victory over Southampton, masking the Red Devils' defensive and midfield woes. Bold substitutions by manager Ruben Amorim and Diallo’s brilliance ensured the win, but inconsistent performances and missed chances highlight ongoing challenges for the team.

Manchester United narrowly avoided disaster against Southampton at Old Trafford, clinching a 3-1 victory thanks to a sensational hat-trick by Amad Diallo. The Red Devils initially struggled against a determined Southampton side, who opened the scoring through a Manuel Ugarte own goal. Despite being bottom of the Premier League table, the Saints played confidently, exposing United's defensive frailties, particularly through Kamaldeen Sulemana and Tyler Dibling.

United's struggles were evident as Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund delivered underwhelming performances, while Antony missed a glaring chance. Manager Ruben Amorim made bold substitutions, benching underperforming players like Kobbie Mainoo and Ugarte, though Antony’s introduction did little to inspire confidence.

Amad Diallo, however, turned the tide in the 82nd minute with a brilliant equalizer. He followed it up with two more goals in the dying minutes, securing a much-needed win and moving United 10 points clear of the relegation zone. The Ivorian winger’s performance masked United’s ongoing defensive and midfield issues, as well as their inability to handle set pieces.

Despite the victory, United fans remain concerned about the team's inconsistency. The match highlighted the importance of Amad Diallo, who delivered under immense pressure, while raising questions about the overall squad depth and defensive organization.
