A woman from Anambra, beaten by her husband and left with her children, refuses to leave him despite the abuse. Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu intervened, but the woman insisted on staying. The Anambra government has taken over the case, prioritizing her safety and well-being.
A 27-year-old woman from Anambra, who was discovered severely beaten by her husband and left with her two children in a bush, has expressed her decision to stay with her husband despite the abuse. The woman, after being found by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, revealed that she still loves her husband and does not wish to leave him. She further insisted that her husband should not be punished for the incident, even though he had promised to stop the violence.
Gwamnishu’s team, after visiting the woman’s home, found that she had initially tried to protect her husband by refusing to let them meet him. The couple’s situation raised concerns, especially as the woman resisted the idea of legal consequences for her husband. Gwamnishu clarified that the state government had taken over the matter and would address it according to the law. The woman’s health was prioritized during the visit, and support from the Wife of the Anambra Governor was secured for her and her children.
