An EFCC officer was found dead in Lagos under mysterious circumstances on Sunday. The officer’s identity was confirmed through an ID card found in his bag. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has launched an investigation into his death, which follows the killing of another officer earlier in January.

An unidentified officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was found dead in Lagos on Sunday, with the incident confirmed by the commission. The officer’s body, not in uniform, was discovered in an undisclosed area of the state. A video circulating online showed the lifeless body surrounded by onlookers, including police officers. In the footage, a voice identified the deceased as an EFCC officer after his ID card was found in his bag.

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the officer’s identity and stated that the cause of death is under investigation. The incident follows a tragic event earlier in the month, where another EFCC officer, Assistant Superintendent Aminu Salisu, was killed during a raid by a suspected internet fraudster in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The Commission is currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death. The latest tragedy has raised concerns about the safety of EFCC operatives, with the agency vowing to continue its investigations into the causes of these incidents.
