A tragic incident occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State when a tanker loaded with petrol exploded on the Iwo Expressway. The driver of the tanker lost control and collided with two other trucks, causing the vehicle to tumble into a pit before catching fire. The driver was sadly burnt to death, while the motorboy sustained injuries but was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Oyo State Fire Services responded promptly after receiving a distress call at 2:45 a.m. They swiftly arrived at the scene, where they found three trucks involved in the explosion. Fortunately, the fire was contained, preventing it from spreading to nearby residential areas. The fire services, along with the police and other security agencies, ensured that law and order were maintained during the emergency response.

This incident follows several similar explosions across the country, including a devastating accident in Niger State on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of 98 people. Earlier this month, two people were also killed in a tanker explosion in Agbor, Delta State. The frequency of such disasters highlights the ongoing safety concerns surrounding the transportation of hazardous materials on Nigeria's roadways.
