Anthony Joshua to vie for IBF heavyweight title after Usyk vacates, setting up clash with Daniel Dubois. Usyk relinquished IBF belt ahead of Fury rematch, granting Joshua a shot at redemption.
British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua is poised to contend for a third heavyweight championship following Oleksandr Usyk's decision to vacate his IBF title. Usyk, who recently became undisputed champion after defeating Tyson Fury, opted out of defending his IBF belt in a rematch with Fury scheduled for December 21.
Usyk announced his decision via social media, clearing the way for Joshua to face fellow Brit Daniel Dubois for the IBF title at Wembley Stadium on September 21. Joshua, who first won a world title in 2016 and later reclaimed it after a setback against Andy Ruiz Jr., aims to regain his status as a heavyweight champion.
