The APC accuses the PDP of exploiting recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and FCT for political gains. Citing a 2014 recruitment tragedy under PDP, APC defends Tinubu's reforms and economic policies, describing them as necessary for recovery. Both parties clash over governance and accountability amid national tragedies.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of using recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for political gain. The tragic events, which claimed over 40 lives, have sparked heated exchanges between the two parties.

Felix Morka, the APC’s spokesperson, condemned the PDP in a statement, describing their remarks as insensitive. He alleged that the opposition party was exploiting the tragedies to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Morka also highlighted a 2014 incident during a Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment drive under the PDP government, which ended in a deadly stampede. He claimed the PDP’s governance was marked by poor management and economic instability, contrasting it with Tinubu’s ongoing reforms aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s economy.

“President Tinubu has embarked on courageous reforms to dismantle barriers to economic growth and ensure long-term prosperity,” Morka said. He reassured Nigerians that the economy is gradually improving despite the challenges.

In response to the PDP’s assertion that the stampedes reflect worsening poverty under Tinubu’s leadership, Morka labeled the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

The APC offered condolences to the families of the victims and reiterated its commitment to addressing the welfare of all Nigerians. This political clash underscores the growing tension between the two parties as they navigate issues of governance and accountability in a challenging national climate.
