Joe Igbokwe, APC chieftain, urges presidential aspirants to abandon their 2027 ambitions, asserting that President Bola Tinubu will hold office until 2031. Igbokwe emphasizes the need for Tinubu to complete a second term to "set the records straight," challenging claims of a potential opposition alliance.
Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has strongly advised political figures eyeing the presidency in the upcoming 2027 general elections to abandon their ambitions. Igbokwe’s statement follows speculation about a potential alliance between 2023 presidential candidates Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
On his official Facebook page, Igbokwe declared that Tinubu is destined to hold the presidency until 2031, asserting that the current president requires two full terms to "set the records straight." He further emphasized that any future presidential aspirants should rethink their plans, as he believes Tinubu’s leadership is set for the long term.
Igbokwe’s comments reflect the ongoing political dynamics as the country prepares for the 2027 elections. While the opposition continues to plan for a challenge, the APC remains adamant about the continuity of Tinubu’s administration.
