APC governors, led by Imo State's Hope Uzodimma, have expressed confusion over the reasons for the nationwide protest scheduled from August 1 to 10, 2024. They urge dialogue with organizers, emphasizing the need for national unity and patience amid economic and security challenges.

Governors from Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed confusion regarding the reasons behind a planned nationwide protest set to take place from August 1 to August 10, 2024. Following a closed-door meeting of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) in Abuja, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma stated that the governors are unaware of the protest’s specific motivations.

Uzodimma urged protest organizers to engage in dialogue with the government to address any grievances directly. He emphasized the APC's commitment to national unity and improvement in living standards, including job creation and economic development. The governor advised against the planned demonstrations, suggesting that they could exacerbate existing challenges such as insecurity, food security, and economic recession.

The APC governors have also appealed for patience from the Nigerian public, assuring them that efforts are underway to alleviate current hardships. Uzodimma cautioned against allowing political opposition and social media critiques to influence public unrest, urging citizens to support the government in overcoming the country’s difficulties.

As the protest date approaches, the absence of clear communication between the government and protesters raises questions about the potential impact and resolution of the planned demonstrations.
