Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned a Canada-based Nigerian woman, Amaka Patience Sunnberger, for inciting violence against Yoruba and Edo people in a viral TikTok video. Sunnberger, who resides in Ontario, Canada, urged Southeast Nigerians to poison Yorubas and Edos.

Atiku, in a statement on his X account, emphasized that Nigeria's diversity is its greatest asset and must be protected. He praised the swift response from the House of Representatives and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in addressing this hate speech and preventing further escalation. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for legal action against Sunnberger in Canada.

NiDCOM has already petitioned the Mayor of Brampton, where Sunnberger works as a disability support worker, to ensure that she faces consequences for her actions. This episode highlights the need for unity and vigilance in safeguarding Nigeria's social fabric.
