Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized Nyesom Wike for exploiting Nigerians' suffering for political gain. Responding to Wike's remarks about his political relevance, Atiku emphasized his commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges, insisting that Wike’s theatrics distract from important governance issues impacting the populace.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made headlines with a statement dismissing the remarks of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, accusing him of exploiting the current hardships faced by Nigerians for political gain. In a response issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku characterized Wike’s comments as mere theatrics, designed to distract from the pressing issues that affect the populace.

Atiku's statement came after Wike, speaking at a luncheon in honor of the 10th Rivers State Assembly, asserted that Atiku had lost relevance in politics, citing his defeats in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections. Wike's remarks sparked a vigorous rebuttal from Atiku, who insisted that his focus remains on addressing the genuine struggles facing Nigerians rather than engaging in personal disputes.

Describing Wike's comments as "theatrical outbursts," Atiku highlighted the need for leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people over personal grievances. He pointed out that Wike’s preoccupation with his political ambitions undermines his ministerial responsibilities and reflects a self-absorbed approach to governance.

Atiku further urged Wike to concentrate on the responsibilities that come with his position, stating, "While he may seek to divert attention with his baseless rants, we remain focused on the genuine issues affecting Nigerians."
