Daniel Bwala, once the vocal spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, has met with President Bola Tinubu in Paris, France. This unexpected rendezvous comes on the heels of Bwala's recent visit to the Aso Villa in Abuja, sparking speculation about his political allegiances.
Bwala, who had been a fierce critic of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential campaign, expressed pleasure in meeting with the "father of the nation" and commended Tinubu's passion for leading Nigeria. This meeting follows Bwala's earlier visit to the President in Abuja, just three weeks prior.
Previously aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bwala parted ways with the ruling party in July 2022, citing disagreements over Tinubu's choice of running mate. At that time, he rallied behind Atiku, emphasizing ideological differences. However, on January 10, 2024, Bwala stunned the nation by declaring unwavering support for President Tinubu.
Facing a barrage of criticism for his abrupt shift, Bwala defended his decision, asserting the right to change political ideology. He clarified that his role as Atiku's spokesman was akin to that of a salesman, tasked with promoting his candidate while demarking competitors.
Despite the meeting in Abuja, Bwala's support for Tinubu remains steadfast. Notably, he emphasized that the President made no promises regarding a cabinet position during their discussions. Bwala expressed willingness to collaborate with the President in any capacity that serves the interests of the Nigerian people.
This unexpected alliance between Bwala and Tinubu adds a new layer of complexity to Nigeria's political landscape, leaving observers intrigued and questioning the dynamics at play.
