Ayomide Adeleye, who confessed to murdering Christianah Idowu, has not been remanded in prison as previously reported. Despite being arrested and a remand warrant issued, investigations reveal that he is not in any correctional facility in Lagos. Conflicting reports from police and NCoS add to the mystery.

According to investigations by FIJ, Ayomide Adeleye, the young man who confessed to the murder of Christianah Idowu, is not currently in any correctional facility in Lagos State. Despite being arrested and remanded in September, there were rumors in December suggesting his release. Efforts to verify these claims led to conflicting reports from police insiders.

Sources within the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) revealed that there were two individuals named Ayomide Adeleye in custody but neither was charged with murder. Both have since been released. Further inquiries showed that Adeleye is not in any prison in Lagos. The police had initially handed him over to Ikoyi Prison, but the delay in the judicial process may have led to his release.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has not clarified the situation, nor has the Lagos State Police spokesperson responded to inquiries. In early September, Adeleye confessed to killing Christianah Idowu, a student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Despite the gravity of the case, judicial delays have left many questions unanswered, and the investigation into his release remains ongoing.
