Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed responds to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s threats by asserting that his state has the strength to withstand political challenges. Emphasizing unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed calls for dialogue and respect among members amidst ongoing tensions surrounding support for Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed recently addressed the political tensions arising from remarks made by Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister. Wike had threatened repercussions against governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who support Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State. Speaking at a PDP congress in Rivers, Wike's comments hinted at instigating conflict within PDP-controlled states.

In response, Governor Mohammed hosted members of the PDP’s national working committee in Bauchi, where he asserted that the state has the resilience to withstand any political threats. He emphasized, “Nobody can set Bauchi on fire,” suggesting that the solidarity within the party would counteract Wike’s remarks. Mohammed acknowledged that while Wike might be upset, it is essential to distinguish personal feelings from political responsibilities.

Highlighting the importance of unity and dialogue within the PDP, Mohammed urged party members to respect one another and work towards resolving internal conflicts. He underscored the party's historical role in Nigeria’s development and the need for collective efforts to maintain stability.

Kamaldeen Adeyemi, the national legal adviser of the PDP, expressed support for Governor Mohammed during the visit, reinforcing the notion that the party must prioritize collaboration and adherence to democratic principles. As the political landscape remains tumultuous, the focus on dialogue and unity within the PDP appears crucial for navigating these challenges.
