Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State governor, labels Nyesom Wike a liability in Tinubu’s administration, accusing him of divisive politics and betraying the PDP. Mohammed criticized Wike’s support for APC policies, calling his leadership style confrontational and his shifting allegiances a threat to governance and democracy.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has labeled Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a liability to President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The remark follows Wike’s criticism of Mohammed’s stance against the proposed tax reform bills.
In a statement issued by his media adviser, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed criticized Wike’s political conduct, describing him as a “transactional politician” who prioritizes personal ambition over public service. The governor accused Wike of betraying the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the platform that supported his political rise, by aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mohammed highlighted Wike’s inconsistent political loyalty, pointing out his simultaneous advocacy for APC policies while claiming to remain a PDP member. He noted that Wike’s behavior undermines Nigeria’s democratic values and raises concerns about his credibility.
The Bauchi governor also criticized Wike’s leadership style, accusing him of divisiveness and theatrics that overshadow the serious business of governance. He added that Wike’s approach alienates stakeholders and creates unnecessary political tensions.
“Wike’s erratic alliances and public outbursts reflect a lack of principles, making him a liability rather than an asset to the government,” Mohammed stated.
Mohammed emphasized that governance should prioritize unity and service over personal gain, contrasting his public service ethos with Wike’s approach. He called for politics to be guided by principles and collective interests, rather than personal ambitions and opportunistic alliances.
