The Peter Obi Media Office denies presidential aide Bayo Onanuga's claims of planning protests against the Tinubu administration, calling them baseless and a pretext to arrest Obi and curtail his advocacy for good governance.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has accused Peter Obi's supporters of planning nationwide protests against the Tinubu administration. Onanuga claims these protests, set for August 1, are intended to destabilize the government and should be attributed to Obi and his backers. He alleges that the protest organizers, linked to the ENDSARS movement and IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, aim to stage a civilian coup against President Bola Tinubu. Onanuga calls for security agencies to interrogate these "agents of destabilization."

In response, the Peter Obi Media Office, represented by spokesman Yunusa Tanko, dismissed Onanuga's accusations as wild, wicked, and baseless. The media office asserts that these allegations are a pretext to arrest Obi, limit his freedom, and hinder his advocacy for good governance, which threatens the presidency's lavish lifestyle. They emphasized that Obi has never endorsed or engaged in violence, even under provocation.

The media team urged Nigerians to disregard the presidency's accusations and continue supporting Obi's vision for a better Nigeria. They argue that the administration's issues, including fuel subsidy fallout, rising poverty, inflation, and unresolved conflicts, are being unfairly blamed on Obi to distract the public from the government's failings. The team reaffirmed their commitment to their cause and refused to be intimidated by these allegations.
