What was meant to be a day of joy turned into heartbreak in Bauchi State as a fatal car accident claimed the lives of a groom, Abba Musa, and the bride’s elder sister, Maryam Suleiman, just minutes before the wedding ceremony.
The tragic incident occurred in Boto, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, as the victims were on their way from Murno to the wedding venue. The devastating news left both families and the entire community in deep sorrow.
Saminu Boto, the groom’s brother, described the loss as overwhelming, stating that the community had never witnessed such a heartbreaking event. “Everyone is in shock. This was supposed to be a day of celebration, but instead, we are mourning,” he lamented.
Abba Musa was known as a kind and ambitious young man looking forward to his new life, while Maryam Suleiman played a significant role in the wedding preparations. Their sudden deaths have left an emotional void, with the bride, Raihanatu Suleiman, inconsolable after losing both her fiancé and sister on the same day.
The victims were buried according to Islamic rites shortly after the crash. The tragedy has sparked conversations about road safety, especially during wedding processions, with many urging caution to prevent similar devastating incidents.
