The ninth season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) kicked off tonight with a dramatic opening ceremony, unveiling the 28 housemates competing for a ₦100 million prize and an SUV. This season, themed "No Loose Guard," introduces a unique twist with duos entering the house. Each pair comprises friends, family members, or partners, setting the stage for dynamic interactions over the next 71 days.
The live show, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, showcased the first 14 pairs of contestants, each bringing their distinct personalities and stories. Among the pairs are Chinwe and Zion, known as the ZinWe Pair, who are in a relationship; Femi and Michky, gym friends calling themselves The Radicals; and Rhuthee and DJ Flo, dubbed FLORUISH, representing "peak girl power."
The excitement continued with pairs like Chinne and Nne (NDI NNE), Sooj and Topher (ACES), and Shaun and Victoria (SHATORIA). The night also featured Handi and Wanni, identical twin DJs from Kaduna, and Tjay and Ben, social media acquaintances. Ocee and Ozee, another twin duo, joined the lineup alongside Damilola and Toyosi, who are open to forming romantic connections on the show.
Adding to the intrigue, newlyweds Kassia and Kellyrae, known as DOUBLEKAY, are posing as best friends, while the beauty queen and pole dancer duo, Nelly and Anita (NELITA), round out the diverse cast. The housemates expressed enthusiasm and initial jitters as they began their journey in the house.
In a playful twist, Ebuka concluded the evening with a fake eviction prank, adding to the night’s excitement. With all 28 housemates introduced, the first Head of House challenge will take place tomorrow morning, setting the stage for a thrilling season ahead.
