Bello El-Rufai has addressed the probe into his father’s administration, urging sincerity in investigations. He also expressed disappointment over the rift between Nasir El-Rufai and Governor Uba Sani but declined to mediate. He emphasized his focus on governance rather than political conflicts.
Bello El-Rufai, the House of Representatives member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has weighed in on the probe into the administration of his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He stated that while investigations into past governments are not inherently wrong, they should be conducted with sincerity and not as a means of settling political scores.
Bello made these remarks while discussing the ongoing rift between his father and the current Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani. Once considered allies, the two political figures have found themselves at odds, sparking public speculation.
Expressing his disappointment over the fallout, Bello stated that he had no role in resolving the dispute. He noted that relationships, whether political or personal, often undergo changes, but maintaining respect and goodwill is crucial.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Bello denied having any insider knowledge about the disagreement between the two leaders. He dismissed claims that the issue was more significant than perceived, likening the public’s reaction to exaggerated movie drama.
Regarding the probe into his father’s administration, Bello emphasized the need for fairness. He warned against using such investigations as a tool for personal vendettas, adding that justice should not be compromised for political gains.
While declining to take a stance on the dispute, he reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Kaduna North, stating that his focus remains on governance rather than political conflicts.
