The principal partner at Ojukwu Chikaosolu and Co law firm, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), has cautioned against the continual association of his client, suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, with ongoing investigations and recovered funds in the ministry, branding such claims as defamatory and libellous.
This warning comes following a letter sent to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) seeking the retraction of an article alleging financial impropriety by Edu. Ojukwu emphasized that Edu has not been indicted or found guilty of any wrongdoing and demanded an immediate pull-down of the article from the BBC's website, along with a public apology.
The law firm also threatened legal action should the demands not be met within 48 hours. The controversy stems from a purported probe into the ministry's activities, with allegations suggesting the misappropriation of funds amounting to billions.
Edu vehemently denies these claims, asserting her innocence and demanding accountability in journalistic integrity and due process.
