President Joe Biden delivered an emotional farewell speech at the Democratic National Convention, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. He emphasized the importance of preserving democracy and unity among Democrats while reflecting on his presidency and addressing challenges, including the Supreme Court's decision on Roe v. Wade.

In a heartfelt address at the Democratic National Convention early Tuesday, President Joe Biden emotionally endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Speaking to a supportive crowd, Biden declared, “America, I love you!” while dabbing his eyes after an introduction from his daughter, Ashley. The audience responded with chants of “Thank you, Joe!” as he began his speech.

Biden reflected on his presidency, expressing pride in his service and underscoring his commitment to finish strong during his remaining five months in office. He praised Harris, calling her selection as his running mate in 2020 the “best decision” of his career, emphasizing the importance of electing her to preserve democracy.

As Biden encouraged the crowd to rally behind Harris and other Democratic candidates, he acknowledged ongoing challenges, including the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, albeit with a verbal stumble. He spoke candidly about the toll of aging, admitting, “I’m so damn old,” and recognizing the protests against his policies.

Attacking former President Donald Trump, he framed the upcoming election as a crucial battle for the “soul of America.” Concluding his address, Biden proclaimed, “Democracy has prevailed, democracy has delivered, and now democracy must be preserved,” calling for unity among Democrats as they prepare for the electoral challenges ahead.
