Bishop David Oyedepo, Chancellor of Covenant University and founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, disclosed that he studied nine prestigious foreign universities, including Harvard and MIT, to establish Covenant University. This institution has recently been ranked as Nigeria’s best and sixth in West Africa by the Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2025.
During the university's 19th Convocation ceremony held in Ota, Ogun State, Oyedepo emphasized that while Covenant University drew inspiration from these elite institutions, it did not copy them outright. Instead, he utilized insights gained to develop unique core values, which have shaped the university's educational offerings.
“I am passionate about providing an alternative educational experience that equips young people to navigate life's challenges,” Oyedepo stated. He believes that the strategic approach to education has fostered a leading institution that prioritizes quality and innovation.
Covenant University’s impressive ranking reflects its commitment to academic excellence and its role in shaping future leaders. Oyedepo’s vision, rooted in a deep understanding of global best practices, aims to rescue young individuals from potential crises by offering a robust educational foundation.
