The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser Bobrisky at the Seme border while she was reportedly trying to leave Nigeria. Seme border, located about 30 minutes from Badagry, serves as a key entry point to Benin.

In a statement issued on October 21, 2024, the NIS indicated that Bobrisky, whose real name is Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, was apprehended during her attempt to exit the country. The NIS stated that she is currently undergoing interrogation and will be turned over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

The NIS emphasized its dedication to border security, noting that Bobrisky is a person of interest amid ongoing investigations into bribery allegations. These inquiries involve the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). The scrutiny follows a viral audio recording shared by activist VeryDarkMan, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials in exchange for dropping money laundering charges against her.
