Bode George urges President Tinubu to reduce petrol prices to N300 per litre before Christmas, citing the need to ease Nigerians’ burden during the festive season. He also expressed confidence in the PDP overcoming its challenges before 2027 and emphasized fairness in leadership as the party’s guiding principle.

Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, has urged President Bola Tinubu to lower the cost of petrol to N300 per litre during the festive season to ease the economic burden on Nigerians. Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, George emphasized that such a move would bring relief to citizens and spread joy across the nation in December and January.

George noted that the government could cover any financial shortfall from this temporary measure, highlighting its potential to positively affect the cost of goods and services. He stated, "Reducing petrol prices will uplift Nigerians during this crucial period. It’s a way to show compassion and create happiness across all communities."

Addressing internal issues within his party, George expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to overcome its challenges before the 2027 elections. He emphasized the importance of upholding the party’s founding principles of equity, justice, and rotation of leadership positions, criticizing those who prioritize personal ambitions over collective goals.

He also called on the Minister of Petroleum to take decisive action to implement this price reduction, stressing that it would resonate positively across political and social divides. George concluded by urging unity within the PDP and a return to the values that made it a strong political force, adding that Nigerians need hope and tangible support in these trying times.

This proposal, according to George, is an opportunity for the government to demonstrate goodwill and solidarity with its citizens during the festive season.
