Suspected Boko Haram terrorists in military uniform attacked Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities in Borno State, killing 12 people and abducting one during New Year celebrations.
This follows a similar attack in Chibok two weeks ago where two were killed, and food stores were looted and set ablaze. Borno State's Police Public Relations officer, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, confirmed the attack, reporting 12 recovered corpses.
The insurgents, heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, targeted mourners returning from Gatamarwa. Security heads have ordered an investigation into the incident.
In recent times, attacks have escalated in Borno State, impacting electricity supplies after insurgents destroyed towers connecting Borno and Yobe.
