  • 1,354 people directly affected; 4,534 displaced across 458 households
  • 161 confirmed dead; 186 injured, according to Niger State Govt
  • 265 buildings destroyed, 2 roads damaged, 5 major bridges collapsed
  • The vital Goodwill Bridge along Mokwa-Jaba Road is among the losses
  • Victims lament poor shelter and lack of adequate relief
The scale of the flood that struck Mokwa is staggering, not just in the number of lives lost, but in the damage to the region’s infrastructure and dignity. Five key bridges collapsed, cutting off communities. One victim said, “We’ve been left with nothing, not even food.” Despite the federal government's promises and visits from top officials, local frustration is growing. Makeshift shelters are overcrowded, and some families say they’ve received just a loaf of bread for 17 people.

As emergency efforts continue, will survivors get the long-term support they need, or will this become another forgotten disaster?
