On Day 13 of the Paris Olympics, Nigerian athletes Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor are set to compete in the women’s long jump final. This marks a pivotal moment for Team Nigeria, which has yet to secure a medal at these Games.

Ese Brume, who qualified for her third consecutive Olympics final with a leap of 6.76 meters, brings a wealth of experience and past success to the event. The 28-year-old previously clinched a bronze medal in Tokyo and remains a key contender in this year's competition. Her consistent performance in major international meets has made her a reliable source of medals for Nigeria.

Ruth Usoro, making her debut in a major long jump final, secured her spot with a leap of 6.68 meters, finishing fifth in the qualifiers. Her impressive showing suggests she could produce a standout performance on the final day.

Prestina Ochonogor also earned a place in the final with a jump of 6.65 meters, coming in seventh during the qualification round. Despite being a less experienced competitor, her qualification shows promise for a strong finish.

The long jump final, scheduled for 8 pm local time, will be the highlight of Nigeria’s athletics events on Thursday. Earlier in the day, the Nigerian women’s and men’s 4x100 meter relay teams will compete in their respective heats, with the women’s relay starting at 10:19 am and the men’s at 10:35 am. Additionally, Odunayo Adekuoroye will compete in the women’s 53kg freestyle wrestling match at 10 am.

With these key events lined up, Team Nigeria is poised for a day of significant competition, with hopes pinned on their long jump finalists to deliver Nigeria's first medal of the Games.
