Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has revoked the land allocations of 762 individuals and organizations in Abuja's Maitama district due to unpaid Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O). High-profile figures, including former President Buhari, Akume, Onnoghen, and other politicians, are affected by this action.
Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has announced the revocation of land allocations for 762 individuals and corporate entities in the high-profile Maitama district of Abuja. The action comes after these landowners failed to settle their outstanding Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) issued notices on Thursday, December 18, highlighting the non-payment of fees for the plots, which resulted in the revocation of their Rights of Occupancy (R-of-O). Additionally, Wike has given a two-week deadline for the payment of outstanding bills by 614 other landowners, warning that failure to comply will result in similar actions.

This revocation follows a series of public notices issued by the FCTA in November, which listed land title defaulters and provided a grace period until November 26 for payments. Following the Land Use Act of 1978, the FCTA emphasized that landowners who did not fulfill their payment obligations violated the terms of their land grants.

Among those affected by the revocation are several high-profile figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari (via the Muhammadu Buhari Trust Foundation), former Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, and several former and current lawmakers, such as Tahir Monguno, Chibudom Nwuche, and Teslim Folarin.

The FCTA has also warned that the land allocations of other politicians, including Sam Egwu and Stella Oduah, will be revoked if they fail to meet their payment deadlines. This move is seen as part of Wike’s broader effort to enforce stricter land regulations in the FCT.
