Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari recently shared that he left office in 2023 with the same physical assets he had when he assumed the presidency in 2015. The statement, made during a meeting with members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) at his Kaduna residence, emphasized his commitment to integrity during his tenure.
Buhari, reflecting on the challenges and opportunities of leadership, urged state governors to adopt a citizen-centered approach, prioritizing the needs of the people over personal interests. He highlighted the importance of balancing governance with national development, encouraging leaders to focus on long-term progress.
The former president also expressed appreciation for the renovations made to his Kaduna residence by the current administration of President Bola Tinubu. He acknowledged the contributions of several governors, including Hope Uzodimma, the chairman of PGF, who commended Buhari’s legacy in shaping the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nigerian democracy.
Uzodimma, in his remarks, underscored Buhari’s historical role as the only opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent president, adding that the APC’s future is strong under the leadership of President Tinubu. Buhari’s affirmation of continued loyalty to the APC was also praised, signaling the ongoing influence of his legacy within the party.
