Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, has refuted Niger’s military leader’s claims about Nigeria’s alleged collusion with France to destabilize Niger. Bwala called the allegations “baseless propaganda” aimed at inciting division in northern Nigeria and emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to peace and bilateral relations in West Africa.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, has dismissed recent allegations made by Abdourahamane Tchiani, the military leader of Niger Republic. Tchiani claimed that Nigeria and France are colluding to destabilize Niger, even alleging that France paid President Tinubu to establish a military base in Nigeria.
In response, Bwala condemned the accusations as "baseless propaganda" designed to create division in northern Nigeria. He suggested that Tchiani, facing challenges in his own country, is resorting to falsehoods to deflect attention from his failures. Bwala emphasized Nigeria's long-standing leadership role in West Africa, asserting that the country has always prioritized positive relations with its neighbors. He also accused Tchiani of attempting to manipulate public opinion in the north by using local languages to incite hostility against President Tinubu.
Bwala called for Nigerians to disregard these divisive allegations, underscoring that Nigeria has never allowed foreign powers to establish military bases on its soil. He concluded by urging the public not to take Tchiani's claims seriously, labeling them as part of a desperate effort to distract from Niger's internal issues.
