Israel launched a massive air assault on Gaza, killing over 400 people, after ceasefire talks failed. The strikes targeted Hamas strongholds, escalating tensions. The UN condemned the attack, while hostage families in Israel protested government actions. With Gaza’s hospitals overwhelmed, fears of a broader conflict continue to rise.

Israel has launched a large-scale aerial assault on Gaza, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirming "extensive strikes" against Hamas-linked targets. Palestinian officials report over 400 casualties, marking one of the deadliest attacks since the conflict resumed. The strikes came after ceasefire talks collapsed, with Israel citing Hamas’ refusal to release hostages.

The bombardment targeted multiple cities, including Gaza City, Rafah, and Khan Younis, where witnesses described scenes of chaos and destruction. The Hamas-run health ministry stated that more than 660 people were injured, overwhelming Gaza’s already struggling hospitals. UN officials condemned the escalation, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the operation, saying Israel would intensify military pressure on Hamas. The strikes also killed several senior Hamas security officials, including Mahmoud Abu Wafah, Gaza’s deputy interior minister.

Meanwhile, families of Israeli hostages expressed outrage, accusing the government of abandoning negotiations. Protests erupted in Jerusalem, demanding renewed efforts to secure their release. Hamas responded by warning of further retaliation while urging international mediators to intervene.

With tensions soaring, global leaders are calling for restraint, fearing the violence could spill over into a wider regional conflict.
