The Celestial Church of Christ has reversed its decision to invite Afrobeat singer Portable and Fuji musician Pasuma to perform at its praise night in Lagos. The announcement of the singers' participation stirred controversy on social media, with many expressing disappointment and questioning the church's shift toward entertainment.
The leader of the church, Olatosho Oshoffa, disapproved of the invitation, stating on Facebook that he had intervened, and the performers were canceled from the event. Oshoffa assured that the poster promoting the artists' attendance was unacceptable.
Members and non-members alike praised the swift action to protect the church's reputation, emphasizing the need to maintain the holiness and sanctity of the Celestial Church of Christ.
