The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has issued a stern warning against those attempting to create unrest in Kano State following the Appeal Court's decision to uphold his appointment. Speaking in a widely circulated video, Sanusi emphasized the importance of peace and unity, urging residents to avoid actions that could disrupt the state’s stability.

The emirate dispute began when the Federal High Court in Kano nullified Sanusi's appointment in June 2024. However, the recent ruling from the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court overturned that decision, declaring that the lower court lacked jurisdiction over emirate-related matters. This outcome affirmed Sanusi's position as Emir, a ruling he described as anticipated.

Sanusi criticized those who sought to exploit the legal system for personal gain, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the region. He stressed that despite provocations, Kano State remained peaceful throughout the eight-month-long legal battle.

“This issue is not ours to fight; it belongs to God,” Sanusi stated. He warned individuals plotting to incite chaos that their actions would lead to self-destruction. “Let us continue to pray for divine guidance and intervention. May those who seek to harm Kano face the consequences of their intentions,” he added.

Sanusi concluded by calling on citizens to prioritize unity and peace while reiterating his commitment to serving the people of Kano under divine guidance.
