In Lagos, a driver of a Volkswagen 'T4' commercial bus was arrested by police operatives from Iponri Police Station for stabbing a Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official. The incident began when LASTMA officers, led by Olajide Olukoga (a.k.a Bravo), stopped the Volkswagen bus for causing traffic obstruction near Costain roundabout.
The bus had been picking up passengers on the main expressway, leading to severe traffic congestion. LASTMA had repeatedly warned drivers to use designated bus stops for picking up and dropping off passengers.
Despite the apprehension attempt, the driver attempted to escape dangerously before eventually stabbing Olukoga with a knife. After inflicting a deep cut, the driver stripped himself naked and created a commotion before being arrested by Iponri police officers.
Security officers recovered dangerous weapons from the bus, including a machete and knife. The driver will face immediate prosecution to set an example for others and deter such behavior.
