On Monday, November 27, 2023, Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola will preside over the swearing-in of 58 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court. This ceremony is a significant highlight of the upcoming 2023/2024 legal year.
In addition to the age-old tradition of the CJN delivering a state-of-the-Judiciary address, key figures in the Justice Sector, including the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), will present speeches focusing on the state of the justice sector in the country.
The Director of Press and Information of the Apex Court, Dr. Akande Festus, disclosed these details in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday.
The inauguration follows a rigorous selection process by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee (LPPC), which considered 114 applications, ultimately approving 58 candidates, including 57 advocates and one academic. This event marks a significant milestone in the legal landscape, highlighting excellence and achievement within the Nigerian judiciary.
