In a devastating turn of events on Christmas Eve, bandits unleashed terror on Plateau State communities, resulting in the loss of 26 lives. Reports indicate that 11 individuals fell victim to the attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA), while another 15 lost their lives in a separate assault on villages in Barkin Ladi LGA. The assailants, yet to be identified, reportedly began their onslaught around 11:00 pm on Sunday night, firing shots indiscriminately upon entering the communities. Tragically, among the casualties in Bokkos LGA were a clergyman and five members of the same family.
Houses were also reportedly set ablaze during the Barkin Ladi attack. Plateau State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incidents and assured that authorities were actively working to ascertain the full extent of the casualties.
