Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing CEO, Innocent Chukwuma, met with President Tinubu to discuss introducing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to Nigeria. Chukwuma emphasized the initiative's potential to reduce transportation costs and urged patience with Tinubu's administration, as the CNG initiative could save Nigeria over N2 trillion monthly.
In a recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa, Innocent Chukwuma, the Founder and CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, revealed plans to introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to Nigeria’s transportation system.
Chukwuma emphasized that the CNG initiative is crucial for the country's future, as it offers significant economic and environmental benefits. He explained that Innoson had already begun producing vehicles equipped with CNG kits before the government's official announcement. Chukwuma urged Nigerians to be patient with the current administration, assuring them that the deployment of CNG buses will soon make transportation more affordable.
This meeting follows President Tinubu's nationwide broadcast, where he highlighted the CNG initiative as a vital strategy to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel. The President argued that the initiative could save the country over N2 trillion monthly, which is currently spent on importing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The funds saved from this initiative could be redirected towards more critical areas such as healthcare and education. Tinubu’s administration is set on leveraging Nigeria’s vast gas resources to power the transportation sector, aiming for a more sustainable and cost-effective future.
