The Digest:
Boko Haram terrorists have overrun another military base in Borno State, killing the commanding officer and other officers in an attack on Kukawa Local Government Area in the early hours of Monday. Sources revealed insurgents stormed the town from multiple directions around 12:30 am, dislodging troops, setting vehicles ablaze, and carting away ammunition. "I cannot say much about the casualties but it's very sad that we also lost the CO here," a security source said. Last month, troops had successfully repelled an attack on the same base, killing many terrorists, an effort that earned the commanding officer public accolades. The attack follows a similar assault on a military base and IDP camp in Ngoshe, Gwoza LGA, where soldiers and civilians were killed. Kukawa lawmaker Karta Maina Ma'aji Lawan expressed sadness that the base was overrun this time.
