The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has urged Nigerian youths to postpone the planned protest scheduled for August 1, 2024. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Oba Ewuare emphasized the need for patience, highlighting that the government's economic policies require time to alleviate the current hardships.

He called on the government to expedite the implementation of these policies. Oba Ewuare urged youths to seek constructive dialogue with the government rather than resorting to protests, which he believes could exacerbate the situation. He reminded Nigerians of the destructive consequences of the 2020 EndSARS protests and advocated for discussions to resolve issues.

The monarch's appeal aligns with President Bola Tinubu's request for more time to fulfill his administration's promises. Oba Ewuare stressed that despite the challenges, patience and engagement with the government are essential for long-term progress.
