President Bola Tinubu has initiated a special panel to investigate the National Social Investment Programmes, which were previously overseen by the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
Announced by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the panel, led by Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance Wale Edun, has been tasked with conducting a thorough audit of the programs, which were temporarily suspended for six weeks.
The president aims for a comprehensive review and modification of the financial frameworks and policy guidelines governing the social investment initiatives. The Special Presidential Panel comprises ministers from strategic sectors, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort.
President Tinubu emphasizes the panel's role in restoring public confidence and ushering in a new era of open and accountable governance for the benefit of disadvantaged households across the nation.
