The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reaffirmed Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), putting to rest ongoing disputes regarding the party’s leadership.

Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Hamma Barka upheld the court's November 2024 decision, which recognized Abure as the legitimate chairman of the Labour Party. The court clarified that this ruling remains binding and unchallenged by any superior court of law.

The decision followed appeals filed by Nenadi Usman, representing the party's caretaker committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Both appellants sought to overturn Abure's leadership status but were unsuccessful.

This judgment solidifies Abure’s position and reaffirms the party’s leadership structure as recognized by the November ruling.

More updates are expected as reactions from party stakeholders and other involved parties emerge.
