The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of Hon. Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Rivers State, along with five other individuals.
The ruling, delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, follows an ex-parte application brought by the Inspector General of Police, citing complicity in the alleged invasion, vandalism, and burning of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
The accused, including Ehie, formerly the factional Speaker of the House, face charges of conspiracy, arson, terrorism, and the murder of a Superintendent of Police and five police informants. The court has declared them wanted and ordered their trial upon arrest and investigation.
This development adds complexity to the political crisis in Rivers State, as five other individuals are already in prison custody over similar charges related to the House of Assembly incident.
