A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an arrest warrant for Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, manager to renowned gospel artist Mercy Chinwo, over allegations of financial misconduct. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sought the warrant after accusing Onyedikachukwu of diverting $345,000 from Chinwo’s earnings without her consent.

The EFCC initiated its investigation following a formal petition by Mercy Chinwo, who claimed that her manager mismanaged significant funds meant for her. The commission's counsel, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, argued that Onyedikachukwu’s actions constituted a serious criminal offense and necessitated his immediate apprehension to ensure his appearance in court.

The court presided over by Justice Akintunde, granted the EFCC’s motion ex parte. The judge further instructed that public notices declaring Onyedikachukwu wanted would be issued if he evades arrest.

The case has been adjourned to January 24, when Onyedikachukwu is expected to be arraigned. This development has sparked widespread discussions within the gospel music industry and among Mercy Chinwo’s fans, who are eager for justice to prevail.
