Dangote Cement's Ibese Plant has donated agricultural inputs to 60 farmers from 17 host communities to boost food security and socio-economic development. The initiative includes training on Integrated Pest Management and Crop Protection, providing essential resources to enhance productivity and address challenges posed by climate change.

In a significant move to enhance food security and promote socio-economic growth in its host communities, Dangote Cement’s Ibese Plant has donated vital agricultural supplies to local farmers. As part of its annual empowerment program, 60 farmers from 17 surrounding communities received fertilizers, herbicides, and knapsack sprayers to support the upcoming farming season.

During the donation ceremony, held at the Ibese Plant, the farmers participated in a training session focused on "Integrated Pest Management and Crop Protection." This training was designed to instruct farmers on the effective application of donated inputs, as well as pest management and crop protection strategies.

Roy Uttam, Director of the Ibese Plant, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Dangote Cement's broader social investment strategy, which targets education, health, empowerment, and infrastructure development. He noted that this support aims to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen food security in the region.

Uttam also highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by climate change, which have adversely affected crop production and yields. He underscored the importance of equipping farmers with the knowledge and resources needed to navigate these challenges.

In appreciation, Dayo Ogunyinka, Chairman of the Communities’ Representatives, thanked Dangote Cement for its timely support, stating that the donated implements would significantly improve farmers' outputs. Beneficiary Waheed Orisatola pledged to utilize the resources effectively to ensure successful harvests, reinforcing the community’s agricultural resilience.
