Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its petrol price to ₦970 per litre for oil marketers, down from ₦990. This move is a token of appreciation for Nigerian support and government backing. Dangote reassures that the quality of products will remain high, aiming to meet domestic fuel consumption.

On Sunday, Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced a decrease in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to ₦970 per litre for oil marketers. Anthony Chiejina, the company’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, made this announcement, calling it a gesture of gratitude to Nigerians for their ongoing support in making the refinery a reality.

This price reduction comes after Dangote had previously set the ex-depot price at ₦990 per litre earlier in the month. Chiejina added that the price cut was also a way to thank the government for its contributions, aligning with ongoing efforts to promote local enterprises and contribute to the nation’s welfare.

For marketers purchasing from the refinery in Lekki, this change represents a savings of ₦20 per litre. Dangote assured that, despite the price reduction, the quality of its products would remain high, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. The company also reaffirmed its dedication to increasing production to meet the growing demand for domestic fuel while ensuring a reliable supply.

While the move has sparked varied reactions, some questioning its real impact given the country’s economic situation, it signifies Dangote’s commitment to playing a key role in Nigeria’s fuel market and pricing stability.
