The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has successfully exported petrol to Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa. The refinery, the largest single-train refinery globally, aims to boost industrial development, job creation, and economic growth in Nigeria. It also serves as a key technological milestone for the country.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has recently achieved a significant milestone by exporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, to multiple African countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa. Dr. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries, disclosed this information during a visit from a Japanese business delegation, led by Japan’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo.

The refinery, which is the world’s largest single-train facility, has also been exporting diesel globally, with jet fuel being sent to European markets. Dr. Edwin highlighted that the refinery’s establishment, driven by Nigerian investor Aliko Dangote, aims to leverage Africa’s vast crude oil resources to produce refined products locally. This not only supports industrial growth but also fosters job creation and economic prosperity in Nigeria.

The Dangote Refinery is designed and built entirely by Nigerians, with the company acting as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractor. Dr. Edwin emphasized the potential for further collaboration, particularly with Japan, as the refinery integrates advanced technology into its operations. The visit from the Japanese delegation, which also included the Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Takashi Oku, and the Managing Director of Itochu Nigeria Limited, Masahiro Tsuno, provided an opportunity to discuss future cooperation, particularly in technology and automation.

The Dangote Refinery is seen as a symbol of Nigeria’s technological progress and its growing position as a global player in the oil and gas sector.
