Farotimi was arrested on December 3 by the Ekiti State Police over accusations of defamation and cyberbullying, stemming from his book Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, which allegedly implicated prominent figures in corrupt activities. After being arraigned in court, he faced multiple charges, but on December 21, he was granted bail under strict conditions, including a N30 million bond and restrictions on media interviews.
Farotimi maintained his innocence despite the challenges, stating that his fight was rooted in truth and a commitment to exposing corruption.
