Dele Momodu criticizes Senator Adams Oshiomhole for his disrespectful comments about Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy, regarding their childless status. Momodu calls for Oshiomhole to apologize publicly, emphasizing that being childless is not a crime and urging a more respectful political discourse.
Media personality Dele Momodu has expressed his dismay over comments made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole regarding the childless status of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his wife, Betsy. Oshiomhole’s remarks came in response to Mrs. Obaseki's speech during a campaign event for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), where she highlighted the importance of having a candidate with a spouse, specifically introducing PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo.
During her address at the campaign launch in Esan South-East, Mrs. Obaseki emphasized that Ighodalo is the only gubernatorial candidate with a wife, urging women to support his candidacy. In reaction, Oshiomhole criticized her comment, suggesting she was not in a position to comment on others' marital status due to her and her husband's lack of children.
In an Instagram post, Momodu conveyed his shock and disappointment at Oshiomhole’s statement, calling it a “horrendous tantrum.” He urged Oshiomhole to find the courage to publicly apologize to the Obasekis, asserting that being childless is not a crime. Momodu’s remarks highlight the sensitivity surrounding personal topics in political discourse, advocating for civility and respect amid the competitive election environment. His call for an apology reflects a growing concern over the tone and nature of political discussions in Nigeria.
